3 days in Mossel Bay: a Garden Route itinerary with Reebok as your base

Three unhurried days covering the Point, the harbour, a game drive and the beach, with time left over to sit on the deck and watch the bay.

Before you start

Mossel Bay rewards a slower pace. Most of what follows is within 20 minutes' drive of Reebok, so you can do one thing properly each morning and still be back for the afternoon light on the bay.

Breakfast at Julsie's Home is included, so every day starts fed. Book activities directly with the operators, ideally a few days ahead in school holidays and whale season. Swap the days around to suit the weather: wind matters for boat trips and the zipline.

Day 1: The Point and the harbour

Start in Mossel Bay itself, about 20 minutes from Reebok.

  • Morning: head to the Point and the Cape St Blaize lighthouse. This is where the Mossel Bay Zipline starts: 1.1 km along the coast, 90 metres above the sea. If that is not for you, the Point is also one of the best places to look for whales from shore in season.
  • Afternoon: go down to the harbour waterfront for a boat trip. Depending on the season there are whale-watching cruises, trips to Seal Island and deep-sea fishing.
  • Evening: eat in Mossel Bay or Hartenbos on the way back, or ask us in advance about a home-cooked dinner.

Day 2: Wildlife, then the beach

  • Morning: a game drive at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, set against the Outeniqua Mountains, or at Indalu Game Reserve, about 30 km from Mossel Bay.
  • Afternoon: stay local. Walk Reebok's long beach, explore the rock pools and swim in the tidal pool, or drive a few minutes west to the Klein Brak River lagoon.
  • Evening: take a drink up to the guest deck and watch the bay. In season, this is when you may see whales and dolphins without leaving the house.

Day 3: Choose your own adventure

Pick one, or two if you are energetic:

If you have more time

Reebok is roughly halfway between Mossel Bay and George, so the rest of the Garden Route is within reach for day trips. For more ideas close to home, see everything on our things to do near Reebok page, and read the whale-watching guide if you are visiting between June and November.
